Summer at Falls Creek

Two people running on a grassy trail surrounded by shrubs and bare trees under a partly cloudy sky.Summer arrivals at Falls Creek are a bit different from winter. There’s no need to purchase resort entry during the ‘green season’—it’s free! Vehicles can generally enter the village to drop off luggage at your accommodation. Please follow road signage for any parking restrictions.

Parking Information:

  • Time Limit: Parking may be limited to 30 minutes during peak times.
  • Long-Term Parking: After unloading, you can park at the bottom of the village in Slalom carpark at no charge.

Bike Storage: Lakeside Falls Creek offers secure bike storage during the summer. Bikes can be hung on hooks in the lock-up storage facility, and they must not be taken to rooms to avoid additional cleaning fees.

Outdoor Activities & Sport Facilities:

  • Mountain Biking: Gravity shuttles are available through Blue Dirt.
  • Backcountry Touring: We recommend Falls Creek Guides, where Macca and his team offer various touring options, including e-bike adventures.
  • Water-Based Adventures: Rocky Valley Dam, Australia’s highest significant body of water, is perfect for kayaking, sailing, and stand-up paddleboarding. Peak Adventures provide rental options. Explore hidden swimming holes and fishing spots by grabbing a map from the Visitor Information Centre!
  • Tennis and Disc Golf: Enjoy tennis at the village bowl near Frying Pan Inn and try the Disc Golf course in the Nordic bowl area. Equipment can be hired from the Visitor Information Centre in Slalom Plaza.

Welcome to Falls Creek – Plan Your Trip

Getting Here – Resort Entry, Parking and Oversnow

Arriving at Falls Creek for the first time can feel overwhelming, especially if you arrive after dark with the village lights and bustling activity. To make things easier, consider parking your car in Mt. Beauty and taking the Falls Creek Coach Service for a stress-free trip up the mountain.

For more information on transportation options, visit Falls Creek Coach Service.

If you’re driving, you’ll pass through the Howmans Gap ticket gate—make sure you’ve pre-purchased your resort entry pass online here to avoid delays. Find more details about ticketing options HERE.

Once you’re nearing the village, resort staff will guide you on where to stop, unload, and park. As a Lakeside Falls Creek guest, you’ll need oversnow transport to reach us. Upon arrival, simply pull into the Accommodation Transfer Service (ATS) terminal upon arrival, unpack your luggage onto a trolley, and check in with the ATS staff to arrange your transfer. One person can take care of the luggage while the other parks the car. A shuttle will return you to the ATS, and from there, you and your luggage will be whisked away to Lakeside in a snowcat—an exciting ride the kids will love!

For a step-by-step guide to the process, watch the Falls Creek Resort instructional video below.

Are you coming to Falls Creek for the first time? Or maybe it’s just been a while. Here are a few pointers from us—having been a family that, long before purchasing Lakeside Falls Creek, spent one week a year here since our 20s. (We won’t talk about how many years ago that was!)

Let’s start with beginners: Start your day at Falls Express Chairlift in Slalom Plaza. For convenience, if it is your first time, we recommend hiring your skis from Homebase (located at the base of the Falls Express). If you’re feeling more confident on green runs, and can ski down the road, consider renting from Central Snowsports, Yogi’s Ski Hire, or SnowRider Rentals— all just a short walk from Lakeside Falls Creek and offer delivery and collection services. For more details on rental options, check out the following resources;

For families, we highly recommend booking your kids into Ski School. Group lessons help them progress quickly, and booking a full-day session means they’ll enjoy lunch while you have extra time to practice your own skills on the slopes. Be sure to pre-book your lift tickets and lessons online to avoid long queues and enjoy discounted rates.

You can book your lessons HERE.

Additionally, you can purchase your lift tickets HERE.

Don’t forget to pack some snacks like protein bars or mini chocolates for quick energy boosts, and always arrive on time for pick-up at the end of the day—your kids will be eager to show off their new skills!

Journey Back to Lakeside

After a fun-filled day on the slopes, you have a couple of options to make your way back to Lakeside Falls Creek.

  1. You can catch the free village shuttle service, which picks up from Slalom Plaza and stops throughout the village. If you’re staying with us, hop off at Stop 6, which will drop you just a short distance from the lodge.
  2. If you prefer to ski back, all home trails in Falls Creek lead back to the village. To reach Lakeside Falls Creek, follow the village trail, then turn right down Ory’s. This section can be a little steep, so take it slow. The trail takes you past the iconic moth murals on the water tanks. Keep heading downhill, and after about 50 meters, you’ll cut through a small gap in the trees to the flat aqueduct trail. Ski past the back of Cedarwood Apartments, and you’ll arrive at our front door! And if you need any help along the way, our friendly staff are always happy to point you in the right direction.
